Dave Chappelle tests positive for COVID-19, cancels Texas broadcasts

Dave Chappelle canceled the shows scheduled at Stubbs in Austin, Texas, after giving positive results at COVID-19, TMZ reports and Chappelle’s representative confirmed at Pitchfork. The canceled dates were among a few hands that the comedian had reserved this weekend. He already gave his first concert in Austin on Wednesday. Tickets are refunded.

“Chappelle has been safely organizing social distance shows in Ohio since June 2020 and has moved them to Austin during the winter,” a statement from Chappelle said. “Chappelle implemented COVID-19 protocols that included rapid tests for the public and daily tests for him and his team. His diligent testing allowed him to respond immediately by quarantine, thus mitigating the spread of the virus. Chappelle is asymptomatic. ”

Chappelle began hosting social, outdoor shows in his current hometown of Ohio in June. His guests included Common, Tiffany Haddish, John Mayer and many others. After organizing a block party to celebrate July 4, Chappelle passed the first post-election episode in Live on Saturday night in early November.

Earlier this week, Chappelle was photographed without a mask with Joe Rogan, Elon Musk and Grimes. Grimes posted about his own recent experience with the virus on January 9th.
