Danna Paola says she left behind the philosophy “calm down, you look nicer”. The Mexican singer and actress presents “KO” (knockout, for its acronym in English), an album with which she declares that machismo in her romantic relationships no longer takes place.
“The title comes to make sense of something that had to happen to me to realize that suffering was enough. It was like the last blow of this sentimental situation I was experiencing, as if I wanted to wake up and say “it’s over,” Danna Paola said in a recent video call interview in Mexico City.
The artist says that making the album, for which she co-wrote all the songs, helped her emotional process. The album, which includes previously released songs such as “No bailes sola” with Sebastián Yatra, appeared last weekend with his latest single, “Calla tú”.
In that video, Danna Paola appears dancing surrounded by women in ecru costumes and red lighting. The singer said that red is the anger, blood and strength of feminism.
“It was very important for me to reflect that with a video and a lot of women,” he said. “That it empowers us, that we unite.”
The 25-year-old performer admitted that she experienced a lot of machismo in the entertainment industry and in her personal life.

In “Justified”, an “uptempo” song about the belief that he ends a bad relationship, he sings in English and Spanish. It was originally for a country artist and was entirely in English, but Danna Paola wanted to rewrite it to make it her own.
“There are certain words in Spanish that give him all this power in certain sentences that I needed. It’s very “cool” (cool) that even at the level of the language I was not afraid to put a limit only in Spanish. On the contrary, I always speak Spanish, “he said.
