On the Belmont Avenue in Dallas there is a drop-off holiday poster that serves as a time machine for many.
“The answer was exactly what we wanted. People are honking their horns, hanging out the window and shaking our hands, “said Katie Milam. “We wanted to spread joy, stupidity and playfulness.”
Katie and her husband Mike have turned their home into a giant Nintendo gaming system – complete with a Super Mario Brothers game played on a makeshift television screen.
“It must have been Mario 3,” Milam smiled. “We like the classics.”
It served as a major source of joy for the dozens of people who passed by to take pictures.
“We hope that the people who come with their children in the car can tell them and it will start conversations in the memory of childhood and” I remember when I played Super Mario, “said Milam. “And if someone has a bad day. You want him to come by and smile. Bring a little joy into people’s lives. “
