Saga GameStop Corp. is another sign of growing intolerance among those with opposing views, which is spilling over into the US, according to Bridgewater Associates founder Ray Dalio.

“What worries me most is the general anger – and almost the hatred – and the downfall, which is now ubiquitous in almost every aspect of the country,” Dalio said in an interview with the Washington Post. “This general desire to hurt each other is worrying,” he said.

While the move by day traders to bid for the video game retailer’s shares could look like a “rebellion”, it shows they are beginning to understand the mechanics of the markets – just like those who are tight on short bets, he said.

However, traders sense somewhat familiar to him, Dalio said.

“I remember a lot of myself at that age,” he said. “I started investing at an early age and I was rebellious and I wanted to do it my way and tear it down.”
