As poorly as it works on older consoles, Cyberpunk 2077 is still technically playable on the original PS4 and Xbox One. The Nintendo Switch, which has never been the most powerful console, has been left out. But what if I told you that there is a way you can play the controversial new CD Projekt Red title on handheld?
It’s technically possible, but it involves hacking the system to run Google Stage – the cloud gaming service that lets you play games without an expensive console or PC setup.
The fact that Cyberpunk performed so poorly on consoles turned into a marketing opportunity for Stadia, due to the whole thing with “cloud games”. After all, if Google has huge server farms that do all the processing work, you don’t have to worry about what hardware you have, as long as it can access the Stage.

That’s why YouTuber Nintendrew decided to make Stage and Cyberpunk 2077 run on a Switch. All he had to do was hack the system and install Android first. Because, you know, the Stage isn’t actually available on the Switch.
As mentioned in the video, Nintendrew would only consider his work a success if he could make Cyberpunk 2077 play consistently, hopefully look better than the PS4 and Xbox One versions, and work with both Joy Con and Switch Pro controllers. .
It also had to be accessible, and in its first attempt, Nintendrew found that streaming the game from his computer did not do the job. It was cumbersome and required an expensive, top gaming PC to run, which is why he chose to install Android to access the Stadium.
Nintendrew notes that the hardest part is installing Android, if you haven’t done so yet. Once Android is there, it’s easy enough to install any kind of app you want on Google Play – including Stage.
It’s worth noting that hacking your Switch may not be such a good idea if you don’t know what you’re doing. You always have a chance to break the console, and if Nintendo detects that your Switch is hacked, you will be prohibited from using Nintendo’s online services.
But the process was a success, and Nintendrew noticed how well the game played on the Switch in both portable and docked modes. Because everything is in the cloud, the Switch doesn’t need to do any work. The Stadia design means you can access Google’s state-of-the-art title library without buying a state-of-the-art console.
So, if you really need to play Cyberpunk on the go and don’t want to do it on your phone with the Stadia mobile app, this is an option you can try. Just be careful.
