Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3 source code was allegedly auctioned after CD Projekt Hack

CD Projekt RED made the news again this week, confirming that it was targeted by a ransomware attack. Gaining access to much of the employee data, this anonymous hacker threatened to release The Wizard 3, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales and Cyberpunk 2077 source codes, offering CD Projekt RED 48 hours to meet their requirements.

CD Project RED later refused to negotiateinstead, referring to the Polish personal data protection office. That deadline has expired since then and it appears that these source codes have been put up for auction.

As reported by vx-underground, bids are expected to start at $ 1 million for the entire cache – rumored to include the next-generation Witcher 3 upgrade – accepting $ 7 million for an immediate purchase. No mention was made of employee data, however Gwent’s the source code has leaked separately in the meantime.

CD Projekt RED did not respond to this current development, but offered a Twitter update last night for former employees. Confirming “we have no evidence that any of your personal data has been accessed”, she advised people to take precautions.
