A man admitted to a federal bank robbery after renting a car from a car dealership, driving it to a bank, robbing the bank, then returning with the money to try to buy a BMW.
Eric Dion Warren, 50, was sentenced to 20 years in prison after admitting his heinous crime – if not so well thought out.
The incident occurred in 2019, when Warren drove the dealership’s borrowed car to a bank near Lubbock, Texas.
Once he arrived, he placed a bag of fast food on the counter and handed the cashier a note that read, “This is a robbery. Play with me and die. I now want $ 10,000 in 50- and 100-dollar bills.” dollars now you have 1 minute or I’ll kill you. “
He later produced what appeared to be a handgun, telling bank staff members, “I’m not playing, I just want 100 and 50 years.”
According to prosecutors, the cashier gave him the money in his bag, but included a roll of $ 20 banknotes with registered serial numbers.
He then took $ 5,086 back to the same dealership where he was seen in the process of buying a black BMW.
The prosecutor’s office said: “Mr Warren started waving the money he had illegally obtained from the bank robbery at the car dealership.”

Things started to go awry for Warren when the authorities contacted the car dealership a quarter of an hour later to tell them about the escape car, which had plates that were registered with them.
Police then showed up at the dealership and found Warren with the money, as well as a pistol that was modified to look like a real weapon.
He pleaded guilty to the August murder.
The official statement detailing the murder says: “Mr Warren was arrested with $ 5,086 in cash.
“The serial numbers of the money found on Mr. Warren’s person were crossed and matched the numbers of the invoices stolen from the AIM bank.
“Law enforcement also recovered a painted pellet gun, resembling a real handgun, about 10 meters away from Mr Warren at the time of his arrest.
“The application note given to the cashier at the bank was analyzed and confirmed the existence of fingerprints and Mr Warren’s DNA.”
All in all, not the smartest idea this guy has ever had.
