COVID Vaccine: Wrigley Field could host the mass vaccination site; The Johnson & Johnson vaccine was sent to United American workers at O’Hare

CHICAGO (WLS) – More aid has arrived as Chicago continues to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

The city of Chicago received more than 22,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine from the CDC on Wednesday and is sending some of that supply to the two largest airlines at O’Hare International Airport. Both United Airlines and America Airlines will begin inoculating eligible employees at the airport on Thursday. None of the carriers would say how many doses they received.

And while United said it will vaccinate Chicago employees who are at least 65 years old or are members of flight crews, American said all of its O’Hare workers will be eligible.

Illinois officials say they expect most of the 83,000 doses of Johnson and Johnson vaccine. They were assigned to arrive by Wednesday and be distributed to the mass vaccination sites.

Meanwhile, appointments at the United Center Vaccination Center open Thursday.

To register for an appointment at United Center, visit www.zocdoc.com/vaccine or call the multilingual hotline (312) 746-4835 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and from 8 p.m. : 00 to 16:00 Sunday.

And Wrigley Field, the home of the Chicago Cubs, is seen as a possible mass vaccination site, confirms both the Cubs and Attorney Aurora Health.

A Cubs spokesman said they were in talks with the city about opening a site in Wrigley. While the shots would not be given on the ground itself, some indoor and outdoor areas could be used.

The lawyer calls Wrigley Field a convenient option due to its proximity to the CTA.

ABOUT: Appointments for COVID United Center vaccine open Thursday, with more than 100,000 seats available

The chicks say that if they were invited, it would be their honor to play a role in ending the pandemic.

If Wrigley becomes a vaccination site, photographs could be taken inside the pitches, in the outdoor market and possibly in the player’s parking lot.

HEALTH STATEMENT OF AURORA LAWYER:
As a community leader in health, we are firmly committed to doing everything we can to make the vaccination process as quick, fair and safe as possible.
We are proud to collaborate on a possible Wrigley Field mass vaccination site, which would potentially be authorized by the city of Chicago. If the site is designated and the supply of vaccines in the city becomes available, the Aurora Health lawyer would provide clinical staff and technical infrastructure.
This location is considered as it is a convenient option for non-car owners as it is easily accessible via CTA. This is part of our ongoing focus on partnership to ensure that people in disproportionately affected communities have access to the vaccine because supplies are available.
We continue to believe that the vaccine is the best way to end this pandemic and we continue to use current, very limited consumption for the most vulnerable patients over the age of 65.
