COVID vaccine updates: Brazilian health officials suggest women are late in getting pregnant because of the variant

NEW YORK (WABC) – Brazilian officials are warning women to delay getting pregnant until the worst of the pandemics.

Health officials say P.1 appears to affect pregnant women more than previous versions of the coronavirus.

Previously, COVID cases during pregnancy focused on the final trimester and birth, but lately there have been more severe cases in the second and first trimesters.

Brazil is one of the global epicenters of the pandemic, with more Brazilians dying every day than anywhere else in the world.
