New cases of COVID-19 in Canada’s most populous province could increase more than sixfold to 30,000 a day by early June if public health measures are weak and vaccination rates remain fixed, a expert group that advised the province of Ontario.

Even if the measures to combat the virus are “moderate”, the number of patients in the ICU in Ontario could reach 2,000 in May, compared to 695 on Friday.

The Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons told doctors last week that they will soon have to decide who can and cannot receive intensive care.
