COVID ads in the UK are urging people to stay home

A new coronavirus advertising campaign in the UK is urging the British to “act as if they had” and stay home as COVID cases and deaths increase in the country.

A record 68,053 infections and 1,325 deaths were recorded on Friday, with the number of daily deaths doubling in a week, surpassing the previous high of 1,224 deaths on April 21, according to a report in The Sun.

“COVID-19, especially the new variant, is spreading rapidly across the country,” Chris Whitty, the country’s medical director, said in a TV spot. “Once again, we all need to stay home.”

The terrible warnings come as a new highly contagious variant of coronavirus was discovered in the country last month.

Posters in the government’s gloomy campaign to reduce infection rates show a nurse treating a coronavirus patient with a warning: “act as if you had.”
