COVID-19 vaccines come to Publix in Miami-Dade and Broward

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Publix pharmacies in Miami-Dade and Broward counties will finally start administering COVID-19 vaccines next week, the food chain announced on Thursday.

Publix says vaccines will be available starting Monday at all 730 pharmacies in Florida, including 136 in Broward and Miami-Dade.

Appointments are required, and residents over the age of 65 can start applying for them on Friday at 7 a.m. at publix.com/covidvaccine.

“The online booking system will usually open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning,” the chain said. “Appointments may not be available in every county during every scheduling opportunity.”

Some Publix locations in Monroe County and Palm Beach County had already provided photos, but Miami-Dade and Broward were left out of the initial launch.

Vaccinations are provided free of charge, but clients with health insurance must bring their insurance card to their scheduled appointment. Medicare members must bring their red, white, and blue Part B Medicare card. Customers without health insurance will need to provide their driver’s license or social security number.

“We know how important this vaccine is to the people we serve, and we are grateful that we can expand our ability to help our communities in this time of need,” Todd Jones, CEO of Publix, said in a statement.

A number of other pharmacies in the state also offer vaccinations as the supply of photographs increases.
