COVID-19 Vaccine: Veterans line up for vaccine in Philadelphia; Delaware dentists answer the call

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – With the launch of COVID-19, President Joe Biden wants to manage 100 million photos in his first 100 days.

On Saturday, along the Delaware Valley, there was pressure to make those most in need, starting with veterans.

At Philadelphia VA Medical Center, veterans age 75 and older and those with chronic health conditions rolled up their sleeves to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Marine Corps veteran Ed Murray says he was initially worried about the shooting, but realized the benefits far outweighed the risks.

“I think it’s extremely important if you want to keep yourself safe, keep your community safe, keep your family safe,” Murray said.

VA officials are in the middle of a campaign to vaccinate as many veterans as possible.

“We are very fortunate here in VA to be able to provide large-scale vaccination for our veteran population, which tends to be a poorly served and truly vulnerable population,” said Matt Garin, deputy chief of staff for safety and quality. patients at Philadelphia VA Medical Center.

In Delaware, part of the launch includes getting more health workers to administer doses.

Three dentists received training and vaccinated 150 people on Saturday.

“To help everyone, I think that’s really what it’s all about,” said Dr. Erik Bradley of Dental Associates in Delaware. “It’s about giving back as much as we can and helping the state and the nation stand up.”

Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia have published websites that allow you to register in advance and show interest in getting the vaccine.
