COVID-19 updates for December 21-Dec. 27, 2020

More than 308,000 people in Colorado tested positive for COVID-19 and more than 17,000 have been hospitalized since Monday morning, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

22:30 | Free community testing site opened in Longmont, Denver

A free COVID-19 test site is open December 17-Dec. 31 in Longmont.

The site is open from 9 am to 5 pm located at 4209 County Road 24 1/2 in Longmont. It will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment also announced a test site open at 4030 S. Newton St. from Denver. It is open Tuesday-Friday from 14:00 to 18:00 and Saturday from 10:00 to 14:00 This site will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, and their schedule can be modified after 2 January.

Dyes that need or want a test are encouraged to go to any of the sites and community testing events across the state. Anyone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should be tested and quarantined.

22:20 | CDPHE expects 95,600 doses of Modern vaccine

The Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment (CDPHE) anticipates 95,600 doses of Modern COVID-19 vaccine to arrive between Monday and Tuesday.

CDPHE said 12,300 of the doses were directed to 12 facilities.

Last week, Colorado received 46,790 doses. All doses have been considered and distribution is smooth, according to CDPHE.

Colorado’s initial allocation was 46,800 doses, but with a sixth dose in each vial, the first allocation amounted to 56,160 doses.

Colorado will require all COVID-19 vaccination providers to report doses administered to the Colorado Immunization Information System (CIIS) within 72 hours of receiving the vaccine to ensure that no dose is missed. If a supplier is not able to vaccinate enough people during the refrigeration period, the vaccines will be moved to another location.

The latest hospital data showed 1,386 beds used by patients with COVID-19 or patients suspected of COVID-19. The average three-day positivity rate on Sunday in Colorado was 7.11%. The state’s goal is to stay below 5%.

A total of 33,934 vaccines have been administered in Colorado since Sunday.
