COVID-19 update from San Diego County – 4-12-2021

Here is today’s COVID-19 update from the County Agency for Health and Human Services, with data until April 11.

Nearly 2.23 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine were delivered to the region and approximately 2.1 million were registered as administered. This number includes both county residents and those working in San Diego County.
Of those vaccinated so far, nearly 720,000 county residents, or 26.8% of San Diegans aged 16 and over, are completely immunized.
Overall, nearly 1.2 million residents in the county received at least one photo of the two-dose vaccine. This represents 44% of those eligible.
Those who receive the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine are added to the total of fully vaccinated San Diegans.
The difference between the doses given and those used in a vaccine is about what is expected to be given in the next seven days and the doses to be entered into the registration system.

The adjusted case rate calculated by the state of San Diego County is currently 5.8 cases per 100,000 residents (as of April 6), and the region is in the Orange Tier or Tier 3.
Currently, the percentage of test positivity is 2.3%, placing the county in level 3 or Orange level.
The value of the county’s health equity, which analyzes the positivity of testing for the areas with the lowest health conditions, is 2.6% and is also in the Orange or Tier 3 level.
All three values place the county in the Orange or Tier 3 level for activities.
The California Department of Public Health evaluates counties on a weekly basis. The next report is scheduled for Tuesday, April 13th.

A community outbreak is defined as three or more cases of COVID-19 in a setting and in people from different households in the last 14 days.

7,367 tests were reported to the county on April 11, and the percentage of new positive cases was 2%.
The average continuous percentage of 14 days of positive cases is 2%. The target is less than 8.0%.
The daily average of 7 days of tests is 12,344.

144 COVID-19 cases were reported to the county on April 11. The total for the region is now 273,430.
14,995 or 5.5% of all cases required hospitalization.
1,664 or 0.6% of all cases and 11.1% of hospitalized cases had to be admitted to an intensive care unit.

No new deaths were reported with COVID-19. April 11. The total of the region is 3,621. Two previously reported deaths were determined not to be residents of San Diego County and were removed from the list.
Nine new deaths from COVID-19 were reported on April 10.
Five men and four women died between January 28 and April 9.
Of the people who died, four were 80 years old or older, two were 70 years old, one was 60 years old and two were 50 years old.
Eight had underlying medical conditions and one did not.

Of the people who died, seven were 80 years old or older, two were 70 years old, two were 60 years old, two were 50 years old and one was 30 years old.
12 had underlying medical conditions and two had a pending medical history.
