Vaccination progress:

  • Nearly 1.44 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine were delivered to the region and over 1.36 million were registered as administered. This number includes both county residents and those working in San Diego County.
  • Of those vaccinated so far, nearly 481,000 county residents, or 17.9% of San Diegans aged 16 and over, are completely immunized.
  • Overall, over 761,000 county residents received at least one photo of the two-dose vaccine. This represents 28.3% of those eligible.
  • Those who receive the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine are added to the total of fully vaccinated San Diegans.
  • The difference between the doses given and those used in a vaccine is about what is expected to be given in the next seven days and the doses to be entered into the registration system.

  • The state-adjusted adjusted case rate in San Diego County is currently 6.8 cases per 100,000 residents. The county is in the red level.

  • 1,628 or 0.6% of all cases and 12.1% of hospitalized cases had to be admitted to an intensive care unit.

Deaths:

  • 13 new COVID-19 deaths were reported on March 18. The total of the region is 3,491.
  • Nine men and four women died between January 6 and March 18.
  • Two people who died were 80 years old or older, three were 70 years old, five were 60 years old, two were 50 years old and one was 20 years old.
  • 11 had underlying medical conditions and two had a pending medical history.
