COVID-19 in Puerto Rico: 18 deaths and 205 additional confirmed cases

The current Department of Health report reported 18 deaths from COVID-19; Meanwhile, 205 confirmed cases, 100 probable cases and 101 additional suspected cases were registered.

Confirmed cases are determined in this way by taking the sample with a molecular test, the probable with an antigen test and the suspects with a rapid or serological test.

The 18 new deaths identified by Health were broken down as follows:

Five men aged 50, 63, 71, 78, 85 and 88, plus an 88-year-old woman from the Metro region.

A 74-year-old woman from the Aguadilla region.

A 74-year-old man from the Arecibo region.

A 34-year-old woman and four men aged 70, 71, 76 and 82 years old, respectively, from the Caguas region

An 80-year-old woman from Ponce.

A 70-year-old man from Fajardo

An 89-year-old man from the Bayamón region.

According to Health, these deaths corresponded four to October, one to November, seven to December, and six to January.

Puerto Rico has reached 74,967 confirmed cases and 1,588 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

In the aggregate sum of confirmed, probable and suspected cases, women have a total of 75,206 confirmed cases and men 62,173.

The number of hospitalized patients fell to 411, 69 of whom were in intensive care and three minors in pediatric intensive care.
