COVID-19 in Puerto Rico: 12 new deaths and 303 confirmed cases

With the new infections, the total number of confirmed cases amounts to 77,927, while the probable cases total 5,541 and the suspects are 58,872. The Agency explained that the total number of confirmed cases was adjusted after the addition of six cases before 26 December 2020 and the decrease of 12 duplicate cases.

They were also adjusted for all probable cases after leaving 40 cases that had a positive molecular test. The total number of suspected cases was also adjusted by subtracting 21 cases that had a positive molecular test and one case that had a probable test. They also added six cases before 25 December 2020 and reduced eight duplicate cases in this category.

In the meantime, the number of patients hospitalized for the virus has dropped to 392, of which 69 are confined in an intensive care unit and 73 are connected to a ventilator. In addition, the agency explained that a confirmed death of COVID-19 corresponds to the death of a person with one or more positive molecular tests. Probable death is the death of a patient who was diagnosed with COVID-19 by an antigen test or whose clinical picture meets the criteria for believing that he or she had COVID-19 but never had a molecular or antigen test to detect the virus. . Meanwhile, suspicious death refers to the death of a person in whom a specific antibody is detected in serum, plasma or by a serological test with their blood.
