Sarah Simental’s parents said she had no other health problems, and yet the virus took her life at such a young age.
“He called me crying to tell me that, you know, ‘Mom, I’m going to miss Christmas.’ And I had to assure her that it’s just one day on the calendar and when she comes home, “We’re going to have Christmas with you.” … unfortunately she didn’t, “said her mother, Deborah Simental.
COVID-19 killed him in high school in a few days. Her mother said Sarah’s headache turned into a sore throat and body aches on December 23. It was enough to take my daughter to the hospital.

Her mother said Simental was not in good health and did not take any medication. But as her symptoms worsened, doctors transported the sick teenager to University Hospital in Chicago.
Her family said things got worse then quickly.
“I have no words for that. I just can’t believe how fast she progressed,” said her father, Don Simental.
“She literally ate it,” her mother added. “And no parent should ever see their child go through this.”
Their only moment of peace – wrapped in unimaginable agony – was to be by their daughter’s bed as she passed.
“She said, ‘I’ll be fine, Mom.’ And that was the last thing, “said Deborah Simental.” So I know she knows, in the end, we’ll all be fine. We will miss her, but we will be fine. “
Sarah reportedly graduated from Lincoln Way East High School in a few months. She dreamed of caring for animals – a sign of compassion that her family members say they will miss the most.
“I think I’m going to miss some real landmarks that every mother wants to have with her daughter,” said Deborah Simental.
