Counterfeit drinks kill 8 people in Cancino

The alcoholic drink “Pite Alen” offered by the food stores El Ataque and Elianny were considered original because they did not harm anyone, but in the last 24 hours they took the lives of eight people from Cancino I and El Duarte, in Santo Domingo Este. Julio César Montilla and Rafael Castro met other friends at Elianny, but after consuming several three, they began to feel unwell and had to call 911, but died in hospital.

They frothed in their mouths, they felt their body burning and the pain they felt in their stomach and waist was heartbreaking, say their relatives.

“My brother told me he felt something burning like a fire and he collapsed. My brother broke out and I had to wear a glove so as not to come into contact with his blood “, said Mr. David Enrique Castro, Rafael’s brother who died on Saturday at 23:50. Luis Ney, who was found dead in the residence where he lived, also died on Saturday for drinking in the same food stores.

Other deceased include the nicknamed Radhamés, Adoni, El Flaco, King Kong and Rey, who shared the drink in those two grocery stores.

Authorities closed both stores and took the owners to jail.

According to the version shared by the locals, in the food stores in the area they have the drink packed in gallons and sell it in detail to their customers in small bottles of one third that is priced at fifty pesos.
