ANAHEIM– Carlos Correa broke the deadlock with a two-run shot in the ninth inning, and the Houston Astros shared the honors in a short series by beating the Los Angeles Angels 2-2 on Tuesday night.
Kyle Tucker and Cuban Aledmys Díaz hit homers back in the second half for the Astros, who started the season impressive, going 5-1 on their six-game road, amid incessant boos from Rival fans, who blame it for the signal theft scandal of 2017 and 18.
After newcomers Zack Greinke and Dylan Bundy had solid early innings, Cuban Yordan Alvarez picked in the ninth from compatriot Raisel Iglesias (1-1), the new close friend of Angels.
Correa then hit a line that smashed the ball at the bottom of the video screen, above the wall in the right field of Angel Stadium. It was the first round of the season in Puerto Rico.
Ryan Pressly (1-0) won with a score of two innings.
For Astros, the Venezuelan José Altuve 4-0. Cubans Yuli Gurriel 4-0, Álvarez 4-2, Díaz 4-1 with a marked run and an RBI. Puerto Ricans Correa 3-1 with a goal scored and two RBI, Martín Maldonado with 4-0.
For the Angels, Albert Pujols 4-0. Cuban Iglesias 3-1.
