Fever, a common symptom encountered both in the original mutation and in the more contagious variant of the circulation, fever is the first symptom reported by people after contracting COVID-19.
According to previous studies that mapped the symptoms reported by patients with COVID in 2020, fever was the main symptom present in over 76% of cases. There are also likely chances that the new mutation will give rise to more symptomatic cases, with fever increasingly seen as a sign of COVID.
Most cases will have a mild fever (fluctuating between 99 degrees Fahrenheit to 101 degrees Farhenheit) and will remain for 3 or 4 days. If the fever persists for more than a week or you have no difference in symptoms, it could be a sign of the severe complications associated with COVID.
Remember, fever can also be accompanied by chills, boredom and malaise associated with enduring fever.
