Valverde pointed out that the country currently has around 1800 ICU beds to care for these two types of patients. He also indicated that if any ICU bed is free, “the unoccupied time is about an hour because there is a long waiting list in each hospital.”

“Our occupation at the moment is 100%, both in the public and in the private part. We know our reality, we know our maximum capacities that we can offer in intensive care. The strategy we propose is to work in hospital beds, “he reiterated. .

The Ombudsman’s office has previously warned of this only four beds remained in the intensive care units in health facilities in metropolitan Lima and Callao to participate in patients with COVID-19.

According to a report by the National Superintendency of Health (Susalud), it is currently available three ICU beds in EsSalud and another in a private clinic. In addition, 814 ICU beds are used.
