Core is an extremely ambitious game project, which is part of the multiverse and partially user-generated content creation platform. After about a year in Alpha, where over a million players helped with testing, the game has now been released for early access through the Epic Games Store (surprisingly, as it is powered by Unreal Engine technology).
For starters, it’s a free download. In fact, the developers believe that there are already over twenty thousand free games that can be played in Core, with an average of about two hundred added or updated each day.
Jordan Maynard, Chief Creative Officer and co-founder of Manticore Games, said:
Core games show what is possible when the power of creation is accessible to anyone. We built Core to open games to a new wave of creators from all walks of life. The new generation is already publishing amazing experiences that rival those of the big studios or that the big studios wouldn’t even think of doing.
You can learn more about Core below.
From shooters, survival and action-adventure to MMORPGs, platforms and party games, Core has something new for every player, every day.
Relax in a massive social space of connected worlds. Celebrate at a castle banquet, swim in zero-G at an orbiting space station or visit a virtual theme park. Rely on your claim, build your own home world and connect with others.
Do you want to make your own game? Core makes this possible by giving beginners and professionals the power of Unreal in an accessible interface. You have access to hundreds of free and high-quality music, sound and art materials and built-in 3D modeling and terrain sculpture tools. One-button publishing allows you to easily share the game, find players and earn money.
