Cop rescues a walking dog from the Nashville Christmas blast

An early Christmas walk with his dog was almost a disaster for David Malloy, but they were saved by a fast-acting cop who halted their progress seconds before an explosive-laden camper detonated.

The Nashville resident said he saw police cars in his block when he stepped out with his dog DJ around 6:30 a.m. Friday morning. He heard a recorded warning, but thought it came from the police, not the armed camper about to leave.

One of the officers evacuating the area rushed to Malloy and told him to get out. Malloy was wondering why he had to leave when the explosion happened, damaging buildings and shattering windows in front of blocks. He attributed the officer for saving his life by stopping his progress.

“We were lucky not to be injured,” Malloy told WKRN, a regional ABC affiliate, explaining that the windows in his building had been blown out. “Apparently the mess shocked us.”

At least it scared people.

Malloy said DJ ‘was pretty unaffected by it. I hope she’s okay. “

He said he was lucky they could prevent injury or worse. ‘So happy, are you kidding? Rubble and glass everywhere, and it’s my Christmas wonder I’ll tell you. “
