Contra Costa County is expanding the eligibility of the COVID-19 vaccine to include people over the age of 50, the county health department announced on Monday.
The extension, which applies immediately, applies to people in that age group who live or work in the county, regardless of whether they have underlying health conditions, the health department said.
An increase in the supply of vaccines has allowed the county to open up eligibility for more people, the health department said.
“We look forward to the coming months, when we will be able to eliminate vaccine eligibility, when everyone and everyone is eligible,” Contra Costa County Supervisory Board Chair Diane Burgis said in a statement. “More and more doses of vaccine are coming to the county every week and we expect this trend to continue.”
Those who are eligible to be vaccinated can request an appointment by county by filling out this form or by calling 833-829-2626.
