Conor McGregor sold his whiskey brand to a Mexican company – Other sports – Sports

Conor McGregor, the famous UFC fighter, is a money maker. In addition to the multi-million dollar bags he made in mixed martial arts, he managed to invest in other very profitable businesses.

That economic growth allowed him to lead a luxurious life, as he did a few weeks ago, when he broke the news because he ordered a gold-plated steak in a restaurant.

One of the businesses McGregor ventured into was alcohol. In 2008, fighter and manager Audie Attar launched a whiskey called Proper No. Twelve. The drink was an immediate success and a notable exposure, as McGregor himself exhibited it at many of his public events.

So successful was it that exports of this Irish whiskey to other markets, especially the United States, generated millions of euros in profits and made the brand one of the most coveted.

At the launch of this whiskey, the Mexican company Becle, specialized in the tequila market, had an important participation: it was part of the financing of the whole process, for which, from the beginning, it received 20% of the participation in the company.

This percentage has increased over the years and with the success of the drink. Last year, Becle increased its stake to 49%, and now the news is that the Mexican company has taken full control, buying the remaining 51%.

According to the Irish Mirror, Becle paid about 130 million euros to have full control of the company. What remains to be seen is whether McGregor will continue to be linked to the brand, given the great promotion it has given it.

It must be remembered that in his fight against Dustin Poirier, in which he lost undefeated, McGregor had already received 20 million euros. Estimates say his fortune could rise to more than 200 million this year.
