Conchita Martínez tests positive for coronavirus sports

MADRID— Former Wimbledon champion Conchita Martinez has tested positive for coronavirus.

In a message on social media on Saturday, Martinez said he was in quarantine at a Doha hospital after giving positive results on arrival in Qatar.

Martínez is the coach of the former world number 1 Garbiñe Muguruza, who will start playing at the Qatar Open on Monday.

The 48-year-old Spaniard indicated that she has “mild symptoms” of covid-19.

“I hope to be able to continue this tour in the Middle East soon,” Martinez wrote. “At this moment I will develop my functions by videoconference and I will be permanently connected with Garbiñe”.

Martinez won Wimbledon in 1994 and helped Spain win five Fed Cups in the 1990s. She was selected last year for the Tennis Hall of Fame.
