PlayStation 5 was released in November last year, but months later, it’s still hard to catch it, especially in Japan. Earlier today, the Yodobashi Camera electric megastore in Akihabara, one of the largest in the country, sold a huge delivery of PS5. All hell broke loose.
People started pushing and pushing, landing on a Yodobashi official who had a stack of about 300 numbered tickets to buy the PS5.
Take a look at the chaos that followed:
The police were called and the sale was canceled.

Why did this happen? Like Twitter AJapaneseDream points out, the Akihabara location is apparently just one of two Yodobashi rooms in the larger Tokyo-Yokohama area that do not require the retailer’s black credit card to buy the hardware – a requirement that has apparently been put in place to prevent resellers .
Moreover, unlike in the past, the store offered numbered tickets first come, first served. In the past, also in an effort to discourage the overthrow of consoles, the retailer would give raffle numbers for the chance to purchase the hardware.
This created a perfect opportunity for those who wanted to get a PS5 for themselves or even resell.
Keep in mind that the Japanese government has now declared a state of emergency for the new coronavirus. Tokyo has the highest number of cases in the country.
