Complaints about noise from the 911 national emergency care and security system increased by 49.7% in 2020 compared to the same period last year. Due to this situation, the institution called for peaceful coexistence by reducing this type of pollution, helping to maintain civic harmony.
For 2021, the trend continues to grow, as in January last year, the 911 system received more than 17,600 reports of noise pollution from all municipalities in Santo Domingo, compared to more than 8,200 in 2020. From January 1 to December 31, 2020 in In Greater Santo Domingo, where 911 participate in this type of situation, 136,521 complaints were registered regarding noise, of which about 35% corresponded to the “loud musical noise” produced in residences and units, which could be caused by the closure of citizens due to Covid 19 pandemic.
“We are aware of the concerns of the population about the coronavirus in the country, but today more than ever we must act responsibly, given the well-being of our neighbors and their right to peace,” said 911 Executive Director General Vicente Mota Medina.
