Director-General of Community Technology Centers (CTC), Isidro Torres took his place on the field, announced that it has made available to the Cabinet of Health and the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare 104 infrastructures operating at national level vaccination against COVID-19.
“The idea is for the CTC to serve as a receiver for the population and to be able to guide communities through CTC radio stations, as well as their technological base, to raise awareness of this scourge,” Torres said.
The initiative came after vice president of the Republic and coordinator of the Health Cabinet, Raquel Peña announced that next week will begin the process of socialization of the coronavirus vaccination plan.
The official said that, through this public awareness campaign, CTC stations will be effective means of communication for municipalities.
“Our proposal is for each center to serve as a collection center and as an effective means of communication,” he said.
In a communication sent to Raquel Peña and the Minister of Public Health, Plutarco Arias, the director of the CTC explained that the intention is to help ensure the safe access of the Dominican population to the vaccine.
Torres called on social, community and religious organizations to join the fight against the pandemic, joining the process of socializing the coronavirus vaccination plan, which will be launched by the Health Office next week.
The Dominican state intends to obtain, through various agreements with various pharmaceutical companies, 20 million doses for vaccination against the virus.
The amounts are divided as follows: 10 million doses with Astrazeneca, 8 million with Pfizer-BioNTech and 2 million with Covax, the latter a global mechanism of the World Health Organization (WHO) to ensure equitable global access to vaccinations .
