Colorado Ski Resort has declared an active site of COVID-19 outbreak as 109 employees have tested positive

Outbreaks continue to increase concern in Colorado’s ski resorts. This week’s list of outbreaks from the Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment (CDPHE) detailed 109 positive cases at Grand County’s Winter Park resort.

The outbreak, which was first declared on January 23, represents 6.4% of the 1,700 employees in the ski area.

Grand County Health did not report the outbreak to the state until this week.

In a joint statement between Grand County Health and Winter Park Resort earlier this week, they said the cases were not followed by interaction with visitors, but were linked to “social gatherings outside the workplace and gathering housing.” ”.

In the last report, there were also outbreaks reported at Breckenridge and Keystone. The first has 12 active outbreaks in a total of 26 cases, and Keystone has four with 10 positive cases.

These outbreaks are among 895 listed as active in Colorado. Another 2,806 are listed as resolved.

CDPHE considers an active outbreak of COVID-19 two or more cases from the same site. For an outbreak to be resolved, 28 days must pass without new location-related diseases.
