Colombia provides 40 million doses

(CNN) – Colombia will begin administering covid-19 vaccines early next year, the country’s president, Iván Duque, said in a video addressed to the nation on Friday night.

“We have closed bilateral negotiations with two pharmaceutical companies that are making very important developments at the moment,” Duque said, adding that a total of 40 million doses will be purchased, 10 million from Pfizer / BioNTech, another 10 million from AstraZeneca and 20 million from the Covax initiative.

The news comes when confirmed coronavirus infections in Colombia reach 1,482,072 and a confirmed death toll of 40,019, according to the country’s Ministry of Health.
