Mandatory moments

Who can stand a frying pan?

To celebrate the winning of the famous Idaho Potato Bowl, Nevada players tossed French fries on head coach Jay Norvell before offering him a more traditional Gatorade bath.

Beach fight and … a golden piston?

Like most people, Monday was an exciting day in Myrtle Beach. Our loved ones Marty and McGee worked on the sidelines and enjoyed the local flavor, while things got a little weird on the ground. In the end, North Texas was not equal to the Appalachian state and its own secondary element. Learn more about the piston here.

Bowl game analysis

BYU 49, UCF 23

Oh, what could have been. When BYU agreed to a last-minute game in coastal Carolina at the start of the season, it did so knowing that a loss would remove the team’s near-blocked spot in a six-year bowl. And so it happened. Instead, BYU settled for a Boca Raton Bowl appearance against UCF at Roofclaim.com, where the Cougars added another victory for a season full of them.

Defender Zach Wilson played another brilliant performance that showed why he generated the Heisman pocket throughout the year. He completed 26 of 34 passes for 425 meters with three touchdowns, and runner Tyler Allgeier rushed for 173 yards and a 19-touch touchdown.

Nevada 38, Tulane 27

After losing in the famous Idaho Potato Bowl last year to Ohio, Nevada returned with an impressive season that saw Wolf Pack finish with the second best winning percentage of Mountain West. Despite having a better record than Boise State, Nevada did not advance to the Mountain West Championship due to the conference’s tie rules, setting a return trip to the Potato Bowl. This time, Nevada did its job, leading from start to finish in a 38-27 victory.

Nevada gained a 26-7 lead by the start of the second quarter and settled a short return for Tulane, while defender Carson Strong finished 22 of 28 for 271 yards with five touchdown passes. Both Devonte Lee (105 meters) and Toa Taua (102) rushed over 100 meters.

For Tulane, who has won four of his last five games during the regular season, the bowl was the third in a row – the first time he has done so in school history – but the first to end in a loss. – Bonagura

Appalachian State 56, North Texas 28

Before the season, the Appalachian state had its eyes fixed on a six-year-old bowl. Starting with a 13-1 campaign that culminated in a Sun Belt title, the Mountaineers certainly showed the role. But in COVID-19, few things went as expected, and App State lost its second game of the year to Marshall, then spent most of October dealing with virus issues. .

But if the 2020 season never lived up to expectations, the finale provided at least a reminder of how talented this team really was. The Muntenians beat North Texas 56-28 in the Myrtle Beach Bowl, behind 502 meters on the ground, led by the Cameroonians of the Cameroon population on 319 meters and five touchdowns.

That UNT fought was not a shock. A handful of beginners gave up the bowl game. But the extent to which the ground game of the peoples and the Muntenians overcame the UNT defense was still a sight to behold. App State can now turn its attention to 2021, with Shawn Clark comfortable in the head coach’s office, and Peoples is preparing to return. – David M. Hale
