Cody Bellinger of the Los Angeles Dodgers has a fractured hairline in his left fibula

A recent scan revealed that Cody Bellinger has a fractured hair in his left fibula, Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Friday.

Bellinger came out on April 5 with what was initially diagnosed as a bruised calf. Roberts said the latest development “has not really changed the course of its schedule,” but declined to speculate on a possible return date.

Earlier, Roberts told MLB Network that Bellinger could return in a week or two.

“I can comfortably say it’s not an everyday thing,” Roberts told reporters before opening a weekend series against rival San Diego Padres division. “We can just put him on the backburner, let Cody do his rehab and join us, hopefully soon.”

Bellinger suffered an injury when Oakland Athletics player Reymin Guduan stepped on a run to first base in the ninth inning of a possible victory for the Dodgers. Bellinger limped off the field, but initial tests showed no structural damage.

Roberts expressed encouragement for Bellinger’s progress earlier this week, but said he had recently “paid”, prompting further tests.

Bellinger’s rehabilitation course, which includes hitting and throwing, will not change due to a hairline fracture, Roberts said, adding: “He just rehabilitates daily and does everything he can to join us as soon as possible.”
