CNN reporter confronts pastor pushing Covid-19 conspiracy

A CNN report focused on increasing vaccine hesitation Tony Spell and the Church of the Tabernacle of Life, confronting the pastor in his opposition to the vaccines and conspiracies he pushed about the pandemic.

Spell appeared in the title earlier this year, when he went live under house arrest, when he refused to close his church during the Covid-19 closure.

CNN correspondent Elle Reeve he traveled to Baton Rouge and faced Spell for much of what he claimed.

“I’d rather die free than live on my knees,” Spell said.

“How do you live on your knees getting a vaccine?” Reeve asked.

“Because you bow to your beliefs,” Spell said.

The conversation continued with Spell pushing a conspiracy about the virus:

REEVE: If you broke your arm or did you go to the doctor?

SPELL: Sure, I would go to the doctor and set up and wear a cast.

REEVE: So at some level, you trust some doctors.

VRAJA: Yes, yes.

REEVE: So you can only explain where the line is?

SPELL: The line is in this vaccine. Number one, the virus was a scam from the beginning. He has always been politically motivated to send by e-mail and ballot papers and voter ID. That has a new administration in the White House today.

In addition, Spell said he promoted that God would protect his congregations.

Reeve also mentioned that several people started going to the Church of the Tabernacle of Life, after seeing that Spell was arrested on the news. One congregant said the vaccine is “Bill Gates and them trying to kill us ”.

Reeve asked Spell about his diverse congregation and why he would not encourage people of color to take COVID-19 precautions when they are statistically more at risk. Spell said, “Not only do I not encourage him, I discourage him” and went on to say that he knows of no congregation to receive him.

Reeve accused Spell of taking a political stand, but Spell responded by saying, “It’s not political at all. I am not a politician, I am a prophet “.
