The Cleveland Browns placed Jedrick Wills Jr. on the reserve list / COVID-19.
Choice no. 10 of this year’s Alabama draft has started every game left for Cleveland this season.
Wills were placed on the list after they were identified as close contact with high risk for someone outside the organization. Wills would be eligible to be removed from the list of viruses if they give negative results for five consecutive days, and could put him on track to play against the New York Jets on Sunday.
“There is a possibility,” said coach Kevin Stefanski.
Wills’ absence in practice is at least the latest blow for a sudden Browns offensive line. Right-back Wyatt Teller missed Sunday’s game with an ankle injury and was expected to miss training again on Thursday. Cleveland also lost backup linebacker Chris Hubbard, who was placed in the injured reserve this week with a knee injury he suffered while starting on Sunday in place of Teller. Newcomer Nick Harris completed Teller and Hubbard on guard.
A source told ESPN that Wills’ close contact issue has nothing to do with his Winter Blast event earlier this week.
The Browns also placed receiver Ryan Switzer on the COVID-19 roster.
