Civale shines on the mound; The Indians defeated the Tigers

Aaron Civale allowed just three hits during a dominant 7 2/3 innings, and the Cleveland Indians hit five home runs to beat the Detroit Tigers 11-3 on Saturday night.

One of the home rounds produced three rounds and was the work of Jordan Luplow, who was about to hit another identical round. He had to settle for a two-race double to finish with five RBIs, the most in his career.

Civale (2-0), who defeated the Tigers a week ago when they debuted this season, continued Cleveland’s strong pitching streak. The right side allowed two singles and faced as few beatings as possible for six innings before Robbie Grossman made a homer in the seventh.

Civale’s job included six shots and not a single walk. Manager Terry Francona ordered him to be relieved in the eighth half after throwing 90 pitches.

Detroit’s Jeimer Candelario hit a homer in two innings in the ninth inning.

Dominican Franmil Reyes had his third homer in two days. Puerto Rican Roberto Pérez and Venezuelan Andrés Giménez added a two-stage homer.

Another Venezuelan, Cesar Hernandez, delivered a lone club for Cleveland.

For the Tigers, the Puerto Rican Willi Castro 4-0. Dominicans Candelario 4-1 with a score and two RBI, Nomar Mazara 2-1. Venezuelans Miguel Cabrera 3-0, Harold Castro 2-0, Victor Reyes 3-0.

For the Indians, the Venezuelans César Hernández 5-3 with a marked race and an RBI, Andrés Giménez 3-1 with two marked races and two products. Dominicans José Ramírez 4-0, Reyes 4-1 with a marked run and an RBI. Puerto Ricans Eddie Rosario 3-0, Roberto Pérez 1-1 with four runs and two RBIs.
