As of May 1, it will no longer be possible to make deposits into Citibanamex debit accounts in Oxxo stores or payments to this bank’s credit cards.
This is due to the fact that Citibanamex has not renewed its alliance with Oxxo for this year.
“Due to a review of our network of correspondents and the solid growth of digital banking, this year the alliance with Oxxo has not been renewed,” the users’ bank said.
Customers will be able to carry out their operations through mobile banking, BancaNet, ATMs and bank branches, as well as at 7 Eleven, Casa Ley, Farmacias del Ahorro, Farmacias Guadalajara, Telecomm and the chain of self-service stores Chedraui and Al super.
Oxxo said the suspension of the service in its stores is due to “causes beyond the control” of the chain, but that withdrawals from Citibanamex and Saldazo operations will continue to operate on a regular basis.
The news displeased several users, as some felt that the suspension of this service would affect Mexican SMEs, which depend on this type of transaction.
