Meet with Meds!
The New York Mets will host a new COVID-19 vaccination hub non-stop at their Citi Field Stadium in Queens starting later this month, officials said Tuesday.
“It’s Amazon news, you might say,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said at a news conference, where Mets owner Steve Cohen appeared virtually.
“Mets came to the market to help us.”
Hizzoner said the new site – which will be run by the city’s public hospital system – will be able to distribute as many as 7,000 photos a day and will open in the last week of January.
“When we heard about your initiative, we were so excited to participate in this program, it’s so important,” said Cohen of Blasio.
“We know the suffering that is happening with COVID and anyway the organization could support this effort, we were going to do it.
“It can be reached by subway, train, highway, we are at the intersection of Queens,” said the team owner. “The goal is to just get the vaccine in people’s arms so we can get over this crisis and get back to a normal life.”
De Blasio called this move “a game changer.
“It’s a great site, it’s an amazing place, it’s easy to get to by train 7, and there’s also a lot of parking space for those who prefer to drive,” he said.
