Chula Vista Walmart Supercenter temporarily closes for sanitation in the midst of a coronavirus pandemic – NBC 7 San Diego

Walmart has temporarily closed the location of the Chula Vista supercenter to allow for a complete cleaning and sanitation of the building, a Walmart spokesman confirmed to NBC 7.

Chula Vista Supercenter located at 875 E. H St. closed on Sundays at 14:00 and will reopen on Tuesday at 7:00

Walmart says the closure is part of a program initiated by the company to allow cleaning crews to clean and sanitize the building and give employees time to repopulate the shelves to prepare the store for reopening.

Walmart sent the following statement:

“Everything we do is for the well-being of our partners and clients and in consideration of guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and health experts. When the store reopens on Tuesday, we will continue to perform associated health checks and temperature checks, and all associates will receive a mask and gloves..

These protocols are in addition to the extensive measures we have implemented during the pandemic to help protect our partners and customers, including installing sneeze protections on registers, checking the temperature and mandatory masking of associates, placement of signs of social distancing and the urgent adoption of leave policy for associations that are unable or uncomfortable to come to work. In addition, with the help of our health ambassadors, we will continue to ask customers to wear face protection while inside the building.

“We will continue to work closely with elected and local health officials, adjusting the way we serve the community, while maintaining the health and safety of our clients and associates.”
