Chrissy Teigen defends Billie Eilish against the Grammy speech

If he won a Grammy Award for modesty, Billie Eilish would probably nominate him as well.

Last night, at the 2021 Grammy Awards, the 19-year-old pop star took home the second Grammy of the night (and the seventh of her short life) for the Record of the Year, the final category of the ceremony. And, in a form faithful to Billie, she insisted on shining her spotlight on another artist of the evening: Megan Thee Stallion.

“You deserve it. You had a year that I think is unstoppable. You’re a queen … Indeed, that’s what works for her,” Eilish said at Sunday’s awards show with her musical collaborator and brother Finneas O’Connell, 23 years old.

“Can we cheer for Megan Thee Stallion, please?” she added. In turn, rapper “Savage” received three Grammy Awards on Sunday, including Best New Artist, Rap Song and Rap Performance.

Judging by the duo’s shocked reaction, it was clear to the audience that they did not expect honors.

“They do not seem happy to have won. More like, “Oh, no, someone else deserves it.” a spectator wrote on Twitter in response to the award.

But when some viewers went to social media to criticize Eilish’s dedication to Megan as a performer Awakening, the eternal Chrissy Teigen came in defense of the singer “Everything I wanted”.

“The winning record of the year sucks because you can’t enjoy it when everyone tells you why it’s not worth it” Teigen posted on Twitter on Sunday night, gaining 26,000 accolades in support. “It’s just that people suck. and it is not the record of the winner of the year. ”

Teigen’s defense came as some unimpressed spectators compared Eilish’s devotion to other white artists who thanked and honored their non-white nominated colleagues, like Adele who dedicated the famous Beyoncé Album of the Year award to her in 2017.

“Really, Billie Eillish’s record of the year?” Facial vomiting should go wild or wap, ” said fashion blogger Bryan Boy.

“I hate when whites do that,” wrote Slave Play playwright Jeremy O. Harris.

However, Eilish and O’Connell received overwhelming support, including from celebrities such as Kylie Jenner, model Sara Sampaio, Spanish singer Rosalía and actor Claudia Sulewski, who shared their love on Instagram last night.

Sulewski from the music pair on Instagram said last night: “The most deserving people”.
