Chris Harrison will address the release of “The Bachelor” in a “Good Morning America” interview aired on Thursday, which was released on Wednesday.
Harrison called the mistake of defending Rachael Kirkconnell, a contestant in the current season of “The Bachelor” – anchored by Matt James, the franchise’s first black Bachelor.
“I made a mistake,” he told GMA host Michael Strahan. “I am an imperfect man. I made a mistake and I own it. “
It’s the latest stop in Harrison’s forgiveness tour since he took an exchange with Rachel Lindsay – the first black “Bachelorette” on “Extra”, in which he defended Kirkconnell’s participation in a plantation-themed college party. “Old South” in 2018.
Harrison called for “a little grace, a little understanding, a little compassion,” saying it was “incredibly alarming” that “people [were] just breaking this girl’s life. ”
Using the phrase “woke up the police” at one point, Harrison responded to Lindsay by calling the situation a “bad look,” saying, “Is it a good look in 2018 or not a good look in 2021? Because there is a big difference. ”
“It’s never a good thing because it celebrates the Old South,” Lindsay said, adding, “If I went to that party, what would I represent at that party?”
Harrison apologized and took a leave of absence from the franchise in a fit of rage after the interview. Former NFL defender Emmanuel Acho was chosen to host the Bachelor: After The Final Rose specialization after Harrison left.
Meanwhile, Lindsay deleted her Instagram after harassing the show’s fans, a move condemned by the producers of “Bachelor”.
