A recent report from Chinese Ministry of Education notes that most young men in the country have become too “feminine”.
The analysis, published on the ministry’s website, caused controversy and was classified as sexist by many internet users, others believe that Chinese male celebrities and artists they are partly to blame for the social phenomenon.

The Chinese government recommends recruiting retired athletes and people with sports backgrounds and “energetically developing” specific sports, such as football, in order to “cultivate student masculinity.”
China is one of the countries where the media often shows immaculate and “socially responsible” celebrities.
“Weak, shy and self-destructive”
Last year, government adviser Si Zefu said many young people in China had become “weak, shy and self-destructive.”
He said there is a trend among young Chinese towards “feminization”, which “will inevitably endanger the survival and development of the Chinese nation” unless it is “effectively managed”.
The official said that the home environment is partly to blame, as most Chinese children are raised by mothers or grandparents.

He also noted that the growing appeal of some male celebrities meant that many boys no longer wanted to be “army heroes.”
So he suggested that schools should play a greater role in ensuring that Chinese youth receive a balanced education.
