China threatened to impose countermeasures after Washington decided on the blacklist of more than 60 Chinese companies, a sign that tensions between the world’s two largest economies could continue to escalate in the final days of Donald Trump’s presidency.

US “abused” export controls to suppress Chinese businesses, institutions and people in other countries The Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on Saturday.

The US Department of Commerce cited national security and human rights violations as reasons for blacklisting Chinese companies in a Friday announcement. Chip manufacturer in Shanghai Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. and the drone giant in Shenzhen SZ DJI Technology Co. were among the companies that were punished.

“Such moves have severely affected the international economic and trade order and free trade rules, as well as the security of the global supply chain,” the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said.

DJI, the world’s largest drone maker, said it is “disappointed ”by the blacklist, but will not stop US customers from buying their products. Being on the list denies companies access to US technology from software to circuits.
