Chili’s restaurant chain officially took to Twitter on Wednesday to mourn the passing of star Adam Perkins, who parodied the famous restaurant in his viral sketch “Welcome to Chili’s.”
“We are saddened by the news of Adam Perkins’ passing” posted the Texas restaurant group on Twitter Wednesday, after the death of the Boston-born influencer. “It has brought so many laughs to us and will always be remembered and cherished. Rest in peace, Adam. ”
His family soon discovered that not all social media presences would be so respectful.
Adam’s twin, Patrick Perkins, announced on Instagram for the first time on Tuesday that his 24-year-old brother died on April 11 – but chose not to reveal the cause of death.
Chili’s also shared with his 405,700 followers an emotional TikTok montage compiled by Patrick, depicting the late haircut star, stroking a dog and other sincere snapshots of his life.
Patrick subtitled the moving montage, “Adam Perkins 1997 – Forever and Forever. I love you my brother. Always.”
This was followed by a series of encouraging tributes from a variety of friends and admirers, including the Instagram icon and in fluencer Amanda Cerny and Adam’s ex-boyfriend, Kelton Elliot.
Unfortunately, while most fans posted respectful tributes, others repeatedly molested Patrick about how Adam died.
The protective brother of the late viral video star quickly closed the indiscreet posters. “I think I have to take this opportunity to explain something to you: if the cause of death is not released, there is a reason,” he wrote to his 64,700 followers on Gram.
Patrick added: “There is intention in every part of this. Please respect both of us by not asking this question … you don’t know how it’s not obvious that I didn’t say it for a reason. Everything in this is intentional. Please respect that. ”
Adam first drew attention online with the “Welcome to Chili’s” script mentioned above, in 2015, on the Vine now missing platform, in which he shouts the iconic slogan of the restaurant chain while in the boxers.
The viral clip gathered over 20 million loops in one year and generated several parodies and remixes.
He went on to create a series of humorous videos in the video sharing app and popularized the hashtag #whiteteen.
Before Vine rose, Perkins had gathered 290,000 followers.
Also a talented musician, the polyglot graduated from NYU with a degree in music composition and released his first album, “Latch Relay”, in 2018, under the name Plas Teg.
