Children are the center of attention in the battle of the coronavirus

Children are now in the spotlight coronavirus the fight. Pfizer wants to extend its COVID-19 vaccine to those up to 12 years old and has asked the FDA for permission to do so.

The demand comes as children are believed to be key to the latest increase in COVID-19 cases, Michael George told CBS This Morning: Saturday.

“There is concern about broadcasting in youth sports, both in club sports and in school-affiliated sports,” said CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky.

In Michigan, which runs the number of cases a day this week, Governor Gretchen Whitmer asked for a two-week break for children’s sports, along with indoor meals.

“Lives depend on it,” she said Friday. “Michigan is definitely a national hotspot right now.”

In New York, Coney Island has reopened ceremonies.

“You can’t feel New York City, you can’t understand New York if you don’t come to Coney Island,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said Friday.

As schools aim to reopen, the CDC stressed that its safety guidelines must be followed.

“We have not yet seen evidence of significant transmission of COVID-19 in schools when schools have fully implemented the CDC mitigation guidelines,” said CDC’s Walensky.

More than 68 million people, or about 20% of US adults, are now fully vaccinated and more than one in three Americans – just over 114 million people – have received at least one COVID shot.

There are reports of tiny percentages of side effects. Each of the three major vaccine manufacturers reported a remarkably low .1% of beneficiaries had side effects.
