The safety commission said on Saturday that it is aware of 39 incidents with the treadmill, including a child who died.
“CPSC staff believe that Peloton Tread + poses serious risks to children from abrasions, fractures and death,” the agency said.
“Given the numerous reports of children being caught, caught and dragged under the back roll of the product, CPSC urges consumers with children at home to stop using the product immediately.”
Peloton customers who want to continue using the cars should keep them in a locked room away from children and pets – as well as unplug them when not in use and keep all other items away from them, said the agency.
Meanwhile, Peloton said in a statement that the safety commission’s warning was “inaccurate and misleading”.
