Chicago shooting: a 7-year-old girl was shot multiple times during a drive-thru at a McDonald’s

Jaslyn Adams and her 29-year-old father were in a McDonald’s drive-thru lane when someone shot into their car, family members told CNN daughter WBBM.
Jaslyn Adams turned 7 years old.

A police car already on the scene rushed the girl to a hospital, Chicago police officer Sally Brown said. The girl was shot several times and pronounced dead.

The male victim was shot in the torso and hospitalized in serious condition, Brown said.

No suspects have been arrested.

“It’s really emotional for my family right now,” Jaslyn’s aunt, Tawny McMullen, told WBBM.

‘She was just … sweet and outgoing. Really talkative, very sweet. ‘

McMullen said it is devastating that a regular father-daughter trip to McDonald’s would end if her niece was shot multiple times.

“All of you, please put down your weapons,” she said.

A violent weekend: the US was rocked by more mass shootings

‘Our children want to play. My children cannot even leave their homes because of this violence. Please put down your weapons. “

Mayor Lori Lightfoot said she is “heartbroken and angry” about the deadly shooting.

“This unthinkable act of violence does not belong here. The epidemic of gun violence that is shortening our children’s lives cannot continue.” Lightfoot tweeted
The shooting comes less than a month after another high-profile death of a child, 13-year-old Adam Toledo.

Toledo was murdered on March 29 by a Chicago police officer.

Police say bodycam footage shows less than a second elapsed between the boy holding a gun and being shot by the officer.
