CHICAGO – Bears are releasing Corner veteran Kyle Fuller in a cost-cutting move that frees up $ 14 million, a league source has confirmed.
Fuller, 29, is entering the final year of his contract and has set $ 20 million against the ceiling. The bears will have to eat $ 6 million in dead money.
Written by the Bears with the 14th overall selection of the 2014 NFL Draft, Fuller is a two-time Pro Bowl selection that set a career level with seven interceptions in 2018.
Last year, Fuller tied for 94th in the league with an interception and 51st in breaks with eight.
Fuller has appeared in every game for the Bears throughout his career, except for the 2016 season, when he missed the entire year due to a persistent knee problem.
Bears also announced the release of veteran Corner Buster Skrine on Tuesday.
Chicago could look to fill the gap in the inside corner in the form of Duke Shelley or Kindle Vildor; two younger corners who got ample playing time last year. The opposite side of Fuller’s old job will be Jaylon Johnson, who Bears drafted last spring in the second round in Utah.
